Battlefleet Gothic - Battle Report Convoy duty

Image
Chaos Fleet 10 x Transport ships squadroned in 5 pairs 1 x Hades Cruiser 1 x Devastation Cruiser 3 x Iconoclast and 1 Infidel escort Imperial Raiders Surprise roll off! The mission is for the chaos to escort their pack of transport ships (proxied by eldar escorts) from one side to the other. The imperials get 5 + D3 "contact tokens", which are then rolled against to see what they are.  You may roll VERY lucky and get 8 cruisers by rolling 8 6's but luckily this wasn't the case.  Once the imperial player has rolled and selected his ships or fighter craft, he then assigns them secretly to each token, which are then revealed when I get too close or voluntarily by the imperial player. Turn one, I gather my transports on one side and fly them forward with the all ahead full order.  The Devastation carrier launches defensive fighters ahead of them to screen for any incoming torpedos or bombers.    My transports get too close to a marker, which is then revealed t...

Battlefleet Gothic Battle report - First 1500pt game

Chaos Fleet Despoiler + 100pt warmaster & torp upgrade Repulsive with the increased lance range and +1 shield   Hades Murder x 2 Iconoclast x 5 + x 1 Idolator  Imperial Fleet Emperor + assault boat upgrade and a 150pt solar admiral Dictators x 2 Dominator Swords x 3 Firestorm x 3 Cobra x 3 This was an upscaled demo battle. Players at my club are still relatively new so we just did a simple "kill everything" mission with a 1500pt roster.  To start the game we rolled off to see who would deploy first and then placed our most expensive ship first and then alternated ship placement. I deployed my Hades and Murder duo on the left hand side and then positioned the rest of the ships in the center of the board with a heading towards the left of the board.   The Imperials placed the Dictator and escorts on the left, carriers in the middle and the Emperor on the far right hand side.  I was worried about the nova cannon but was keen to drill through enemy lin...

Battlefleet Gothic - Getting started guide

Updated 14/07/2025 A lot has changed since I last played this game (many moons ago) however since GW killed off the game back in 2013, the community has forged ahead and taken ownership of the game.  The rules are now freely available online as a living rulebook named Battlefleet Gothic Remastered. There are also some fan rulesets out there called Battlefleet Gothic XR and BFG 2020, but it is recommended you start off with BFG Remastered. For models there are some great 3rd party designs and 3d printing has really come to the rescue with there being some awesome free STL files out there. Some of which look identical to the original models and others are great brand new designs. -------The Rules------- Battlefleet Gothic Remastered    (recommended) This book contains the original rules plus the Armada expansion and 2010 FAQ. I highly recommend you go with this.  BattleFleet Gothic - First battle    (recommended) Cut down and simplified rulebook with a sce...

Test of Honour Battle report - Attack at the Shrine! The win conditions are on kill points which are totaled up at the end of turn 5. The defender gets bonus points for each action his hero spends praying at the temple. If you attack the hero who is deep in prayer, you immediately get one tasty dishonour card. We played with  24  points each on a fairly terrain heavy board. Will   (Dishonorable temple desecrators)   Ronin Hero Ronin Second Ronin thug X 1 Ashigaru archer Ashigaru archer Ashigaru archer Loyal Spearmen group Loyal Spearmen group Ashigaru Sargent Attack doggo Rob   (Pius fool) Unarmoured samurai hero Devoted samurai Experienced musket group Ashigaru archer group Ashigaru spearman group Experienced Ashigaru spearman  The scenario: We decided to continue running with the house rule "Martial Mastery", which only applies to melee armed common troops. It changes the game up quite a bit and although the common troops still don't get many critica...

Mortal Gods - Hades Rises

Hades really didn't do well vs Jason & friends on the last game, with the necromancers spending the whole game just stemming the tide by summoning over and over due to skeletons constantly dying and running away. So for this one I decided to go with double necromancers.  Lets see how they do against these cronies of the so called father of gods.. Bah! For this build I decided to go skeleton HEAVY and go with double necromancer. In the last game the necromancer was employed full time to just keep resurrecting skeletons who were being destroyed left right and centre. With two necromancers I hoped to have more black pebbles to do more interesting things. First clash was the mighty Minotaur vs the Hydra. The Hydra is very scary when at full health.. but in the games so far it doesn't stay at full health for long as he is public enemy #1. Unfortunately as soon as he gets any damage his effectiveness starts to fall, which is a shame as other big meanies remain at full fighting po...
