Test Of Honour Battle Report

Recently I have decided to get into Test Of Honour as I am attracted by the awesome Samurai setting and the easy to learn rules, which make for a fast paced game.

The opponent was Paul with his squad of samurai, archers and spearmen. Neil and myself teamed up with our Ronin and Ninja!

The first mission is to cut down the opposing teams Hero.

Paul's samurai bowmen and horse archer set up on one side of the table and immediately started shooting up the hapless Ronin squad with arrows. Wounded but undeterred they press forward. Meanwhile the Ninja advance on the bowmen using a nearby shack for cover with one of them climbing up onto the roof.

The next round consisted of Paul’s Sargent of Archery somehow shooting his own foot and gaining a wound.

Neil’s Ninja then vaulted over a nearby stone wall while simultaneously throwing a ninja star hurting a lone spearman. The ninja then charged forward and finished the job by cutting down the filthy peasant. However all was not well as the ninja was now in range of filthy peasant’s friends, who with their bows pointing at him promptly made a human pincushion out of him.

On the other side of the battle Will’s Wise Samurai charged Paul’s Hero but as he was more a scholar than a fighter he failed to hit twice. Paul’s hero responded by showing him what swordsmanship was all about and delivered a lesson in the form of severing his head.

Neil’s Ninja Lieutenant sprinted forward and threw a ninja star at Paul’s hero causing a light wound. He then charged in but failed to hit and so fell back.

Incensed by the death of his lifelong friend, Will’s Ronin hero Tedeschi  charged in and gave the beat-down in the form of a club to the head to Paul’s Hero who died instantly.  Hero dead, battle over!

Battle 2

For the second battle we did the same scenario.

Immediately after deploying, Paul’s horse archer galloped out and shot off an arrow at Will’s wise samurai. He tried to dodge but failed horribly and went tumbling onto the floor. The arrow found its mark and embedded itself in his leg. Painful but not a kill. The wise samurai rolled around in agony, wishing he stayed at home once again.

Will’s Ronin group charged forward to provide some cover in the form of human shields only to be faced with Paul’s Loyal samurai charging out from the Dojo.

Paul’s horse archer attempted to let loose another arrow but amazingly managed to shoot himself causing a light wound.  Paul’s Hero and Ninja crept up to the Dojo as did Will and Neil’s units.

Round two started with the musketmen taking shots at Neil’s Ninja, who promptly exploded into a red sticky mess. Fellow ninja terrified that they were not indeed invisible fell back having failed a test of honour.   Will’s Hero undeterred mounted the ramp to the Dojo with the aim of joining battle.

Paul’s Ninja Lieutenant in hot pursuit threw his ninja stars at Paul’s hero who aptly dodged but lost his last action in doing so. Sensing an opportunity Will's hero Tedeschi rushed forward and once again introduced his club to the Samurai’s face. A fountain of blood erupted as the Hero was instantly killed. With the Hero dead, the game was over!
